Surface Maintenance and Engineering Planning Program (SURFMEPP) provides centralized surface ship life cycle maintenance engineering, and class maintenance planning and management.  SURFMEPP’s primary mission is to maintain and modernize in-service ships throughout the ship’s expected service life focusing on a complete, well-engineered, and continuously improving Class Maintenance Plan (CMP).    SURFMEPP’s Modernization Analysts are subject matter experts on surface ship modernization and integration, working with TYCOM, Program Office and Maintenance Teams to support Surface Fleet platforms. Modernization Analyst responsibilities include (but not limited to): - Providing analysis and recommendations to facilitate ship specific modernization planning and execution. - Conducting availability integration and modernization analysis to identify modernization that may risk avails exceeding scheduled completion date. - Identifying repair, corrosion and tank work that may be affected by a Mod task. - Managing Mandatory Safety Alterations for assigned ship class(es) by generating WN’s and tracking them to completion. - Assisting in program reviews, conferences and working groups for naval programs.

They will develop, track, and manage material requirements for mandatory Class Maintenance Plan tasks for various hulls and availabilities under the guidance of senior personnel, and will attend meetings and communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide comments, recommendations, and follow-up on issues and topics relevant to propulsion systems.

Surface Maintenance and Engineering Planning Program (SURFMEPP) provides centralized surface ship life cycle maintenance engineering, and class maintenance planning and management.  SURFMEPP’s primary mission is to maintain and modernize in-service ships throughout the ship’s expected service life focusing on a complete, well-engineered, and continuously improving Class Maintenance Plan (CMP).   SURFMEPP’s Corrosion Systems Analysts are the Subject Matter Experts for development of corrosion/structural project implementation, interfacing with Navy activities to develop or support corrosion/structural technologies; new corrosion mitigation initiatives, assisting in removing corrosion barriers, and communicating findings and recommendations to SURFMEPP Leadership.  The Analyst will participate in Corrosion Communities of Practice Working Group events to include MegaRust, Fleet Maintenance and Modernization Symposium (FMMS) and Standard Specifications for Ship Repair and Alteration (SSRAC).   The Analyst understands database principles and maintenance, and conducts engineering analysis of all corrosion reports, identifying corrosion trends and generating metrics for interpretation by Leadership.  Using Reliability Centered Maintenance principles, the Analyst will develop and  maintain Class Maintenance Plans for tanks, voids, and ship structure, and develop various SURFMEPP corrosion control processes and products - ensuring alignment with higher-level guidance.
