Responsibilities

Noblis ESI is seeking a Systems Operations/Network Engineer with a background in designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructures to support our client's mission in Chantilly, VA. 

 

Professionals in network administration are responsible for managing and maintaining computer networks to ensure reliable and secure connectivity for users and devices. They utilize their expertise in network technologies, protocols, and security practices to design, implement, and optimize network infrastructure and services.

 

Typical responsibilities include configuring and maintaining network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, monitoring network performance and traffic patterns, and troubleshooting network issues to identify and resolve connectivity and performance problems. Network administration roles also involve implementing network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs, to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.

 

Additionally, professionals may plan and execute network upgrades and migrations, perform network capacity planning, and provide technical support and training to end-users and other IT staff. Their expertise in areas such as network design, routing and switching, network protocols, and network management tools enables organizations to maintain robust and scalable network infrastructure that supports business operations and enables seamless communication and collaboration.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs. 
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal network performance and reliability. 
  • Manage and maintain server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and updates. 
  • Ensure the security of the network and systems by implementing and managing security measures and protocols. 
  • Provide technical support to end-users and IT team members for network and system-related issues. 
  • Perform regular system backups and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and availability. 
  • Develop and maintain network and system documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and implement IT projects and initiatives. 
  • Stay current with trends, technologies, and best practices in network and system administration. 
  • Conduct regular audits of network and system performance, security, and compliance. 
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity. 

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Alternatively, demonstrate an additional 4 years of related acquisition experience per level if no bachelor's degree is held. 
  • Experience as a network engineer or system administrator. 
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and software. 
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools. 
  • Proficiency in managing and configuring server environments (e.g., Windows Server, Linux). 
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). 

 

Junior-Level  

  • Bachelor's degree  
  • 0 - 5 years of experience 
  • Background / knowledge in network engineering/administration 
  • Compensation:  $66,500 - $125,800

  

Mid-Level  

  • Bachelor's degree  
  • 5 - 10 years of experience 
  • Background / knowledge in network engineering/administration
  • Compensation: $107,100 - $167,325 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python). 
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and services (e.g., AWS, Azure). 
  • Certifications in relevant fields (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate). 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

Posted Salary Range

USD $66,500.00 - USD $167,325.00 /Yr.
