Responsibilities

 

Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions’ to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Noblis is looking to hire an Engineer to provide support to various ship programs for the US Navy in the areas of Submarine Communication Electromagnetic Systems (SCEMS) In Service Engineering.

 

You will provide engineering, technical, logistics, and obsolescence support to U.S. Navy ships and vessels related to SCEMS, equipment, and facilities. This will include designing, evaluating, planning, testing and operating mechanical and electical equipment and systems for commercial, government, military, and/or scientific uses. The candidate's primary duties and responsibilities include:

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and updating mechanical designs and drawings
  • Program support including collection and presenting of system failure data
  • Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
  • Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
  • Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements
  • Engineering change documentation development/maintenance
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on main and subsystems
  • Assessment and testing to determine qualified configuration of main and subsystems
  • Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components for Navy SCEMS systems.
  • Perform circuit design, modeling, and simulation to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, writing diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, system engineers, and program managers.

 

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering 
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in electrical or computer engineering
  • Ability to learn submarine radio frequency and communications systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Physically able to climb ladders found on submarines
  • Ability to understand or learn electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary
  • When not on travel work at the Philadelphia Navy Yard
  • Ability to interact directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan and report status.
  • Familiarity with Electrical System Engineering concepts.
  • Be able to work independently and interact with government and military active-duty personnel in design and support of system components.
  • Familiarity in designing and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion.
  • Must have a Secret clearance or the OR the ability to obtain one.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of engineering design, analysis, and testing in addition to the above requirement
  • Understanding of design documentation or technical data package quality drawings for electronic systems
  • Knowledge with uninterruptible power supplies and its functions
  • Experience with performing input current and power calculations
  • Knowledge with writing Engineering reports, work instructions, test plans, etc.
  • Experience with SCEMS
  • Understanding of NAVY shipboard power and interfaces
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting of failed electronic components and root cause analysis

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

Posted Salary Range

USD $63,600.00 - USD $99,450.00 /Yr.
