Responsibilities

Noblis MSD is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support a U.S. Navy program, working both independently and within a team of engineers on complex Naval engineering projects.

The candidate's roles and responsibilities include:

 

  • Designing and developing state of the art control systems for implementation onboard U.S. Navy ships.
  • Design, implement, debug, and test software (primarily PLC but may include C/C++, .NET) to support the integration of ship systems.
  • Provide software and hardware engineering, to including design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of shipboard control systems and components.
  • Develop equipment integration designs for supervisory control systems, simulators/stimulators, and other test tools/systems.
  • Develop technical documentation as it relates to control systems engineering and control systems interfaces.
  • Design and implement test tools to support software development and integration of ship systems with machinery control systems.
  • Configure and test software updates on land-based test facilities in preparation for ship deliveries.
  • Provide remote and/or on-site technical support for the testing, troubleshooting, and/or installation of control systems software, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and software loads for PLC processors and I/O modules, and circuit level firmware.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years professional engineering experience including PLC configuration, commissioning, and programming experience using Rockwell Automation PLCs
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in reading and developing engineering diagrams using CAD Software
  • Experience troubleshooting faults/failures using common electrical and computer system diagnostic tools. 
  • Familiarity with network protocols and concepts to include ethernet networks
  • Must have a minimum of one of the following cyber/IT certifications:
    • Security+ CE
    • CCNA-Security
    • CySA+ **
    • GICSP
    • GSEC
    • CND
    • SSCP
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

  • C/C++ and/or .NET programming is a plus but not required
  • Siemens PLC experience is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Independent problem-solving ability a plus

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.


 

Posted Salary Range

USD $74,500.00 - USD $130,400.00 /Yr.
