Software Engineer (Python & Java)

You would join our team as a mid-level software engineer using your python and/or java skills to support a law enforcement program that is transforming the way law enforcement and homeland security communities handle, process, analyze, visualize, and translate information into actionable information.

 

Responsibilities:

• Provides software engineering and technical support using your python and/or java skills spanning the software development lifecycle
• Writes application code, automated tests, and informs deployment procedures
• Conducts design and code reviews, participates in daily scrums, retrospective, and other agile ceremonies
• Coordinates with the development team to support QA/QC and troubleshooting activities
• Provides assistance monitoring and resolving issues with deployed systems

 

Basic  Qualifications:

• Experience - multiple levels can be accommodated (mid-level or senior),
• Degree (minimum): BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering (or related field)
• Work Experience (minimum): 3 years, excluding internships
• You can demonstrate significant proficiency and are well-versed with:
• Reading an existing codebase to understand the existing functionality
• Using common enterprise software design patterns such as MVC
• Using build tools such as Maven
• Understanding both functional and object-oriented programming paradigms
• You have hands on experience with:
• Scripting and programming languages: Python, Java
• Unit tests (Mockito preferred)
• Development frameworks: Spring Boot
• Microservice architectures, software platforms and frameworks like Kafka
• Monolithic and hybrid architectures and databases like PostgreSQL, Elastic
• Version control systems such as git, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and container orchestration platforms such as Docker.
• You have hands-on experience with writing and maintaining automated tests (unit, integration, stress, load, etc.)
• You have working knowledge of Agile software development frameworks (Scrum) and have hands on experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery practices
• You have working knowledge of the following Atlassian products: Jira, Confluence

Desired Qualifications:

• You have scripting and programming language experience beyond python, java, and C++ with languages like: C#, Javascript, CSS, HTML, Shell Scripting, Groovy, etc.
• You have worked with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or HuggingFace
• You desire to work in an agile and cross functional team environment, understand team goals and generate appropriate, innovative analytical insights to drive process and experience improvements 
• You challenge the status quo and desire to explore, evaluate, and understand new technologies
• Has experience supporting law enforcement clients
• Ability to work across the stack or willingness to expand scope of software development experience
• Ability to work in fast paced environment
• Ability to adapt and learn new methodologies and technologies
• Ability to work with teams across geographic bounds
• Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.
