In response, DHS S&T was established by Congress to provide innovative scientific and technical solutions to the nation's homeland security challenges. Within S&T, the Office of National Laboratories (ONL) develops and utilizes a coordinated network of DHS and Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories to deliver enduring capabilities vital to DHS and the national homeland security mission. ONL manages strategic, operational, maintenance and expansion efforts for ONL laboratory capabilities across five U.S. states (Alabama, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and New York), requiring a range of capabilities to support these efforts.

 

This role provides support to Security operations at DHS facilities, ensuring that all necessary security processes that support normal operations are completed with minimal interruption to everyday functions.

 

Role functions may include:

 

  • Performing Special Security Representative (SSR) duties in support of the Special Security Officer (SSO)
  • Validating and storing all security forms required for personnel
  • Certifying incoming/outgoing visit requests, courier authorizations, etc.
  • Maintaining current classified access rosters.
  • Reporting all security incidents to the Special Security Officer (SSO)
  • Conducting personnel indoctrination and ensuring personnel are current with all required trainings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Top Secret-level Security Clearance with eligibility to obtain DHS access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) and DHS Suitability

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Programmatic or management experience supporting DoD and/or DHS components (e.g., TSA, CBP, FPS, CISA, CWMD, USCG, ICE).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment, demonstrate teamwork and initiative, and function productively in the face of new assignments and the re-prioritization of existing assignments. Familiarity with regulations for the handling and storage of classified materials.
  • Past experience with DHS and/or federal government regulations governing the handling and storage of sensitive and classified information.
  • Familiarity with the operations of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, targeting both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated meeting facilitation experience.
  • Top Secret-level Security Clearance and DHS access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) and DHS Suitability.
