Technology and threats evolve rapidly in today’s ever-changing environment. In response, DHS S&T was established by Congress to provide innovative scientific and technical solutions to the nation's homeland security challenges. DHS S&T supports basic and applied research, development, testing and evaluation (RDT&E) that provides the tools and knowledge products to support the Homeland Security missions of DHS components and first responders. DHS S&T supports these RDT&E activities at a range or performer and government facilities, including DHS S&T-run research facilities across the U.S.

 

This role provides general front office program and project management support.

 

 

Role functions may include:

 

  • Manage and appropriately route inter-office taskings to office staff and representatives.
  • Evaluate and comprehend program data, research work plans, budget reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Conduct meetings and capture action items, and follow-up on meeting action items on behalf of client.
  • Support weekly and monthly senior staff meetings by collecting or initiating topics for discussion and track action items post-meeting.
  • Coordinate and schedule calendar invitations, phone calls, and meetings (virtual, onsite, and offsite) with S&T staff and external stakeholders.
  • Support client scheduling needs and meeting preparation by gathering due-outs and assignment updates, or compile hand-outs.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations for meetings, off-site meetings, conferences, and Congressional
  • Engage and coordinate with senior-level support staff on behalf of client
  • Coordinate and manage travel schedule and logistics for senior level office staff to include flights, hotels, rental cars, etc. using the DHS mandated system. Process paperwork for travel reimbursements.
  • Support the full lifecycle of Records Management for DHS records according to Federal standards and guidance.
  • Maintain all in-house training, i.e., ExecSec, Travel, Records Management, Security, etc.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret-level Security Clearance and DHS Suitability.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Programmatic or management experience supporting DoD and/or DHS components (e.g., TSA, CBP, FPS, CISA, CWMD, USCG, ICE).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment, demonstrate teamwork and initiative, and function productively in the face of new assignments and the re-prioritization of existing assignments.
  • Ability to multitask independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across multiple teams and with multiple team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and operate independently with team leaders and staff in a fast-paced work environment and manage multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience in Records Management. 
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Secret-level Security Clearance and DHS Suitability preferred.
