Noblis MSD is seeking a Software Engineer with VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) experience. You will support the development, maintenance and delivery of Machinery Control Systems (MCS) software for U.S. Navy ships. You will work with Software and Systems Engineers who are Navy civilian employees, Contractors and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). In this position you will contribute to all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements definition, software development, documentation, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance.


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of the Navy's Machinery Control System (MCS)
  • Design, develop, test, install, and maintain MCS software and supporting software products
  • Work with Microsoft Visual Studio and version control tools (i.e. GIT)
  • Identify and document software and system related issues
  • Resolve software issues through debugging, research, and investigation
  • Provide distance and onsite support of software problems
  • Prepare and maintain new and/or existing software requirements
  • Write, review, and maintain technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials
  • Participate in special projects as require

Candidate may be required to travel at times up to 5-10%


Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

At minimum, four (4) years of professional experience in software development using C++, to include experience using the VxWorks real time operating system (RTOS) developed by Wind River.

Candidates must either have an active DoD Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.


Demonstrated skills and experience with the following:

  • Using the Wind River Workbench and Tornado IDE (Integrated Development Environment)
  • Designing, developing, testing, and installing software and supporting software products
  • Writing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation

Basic knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP

Familiarity and experience with databases (MS Access, SQL)

· Contribute specialized domain or technical content to proposal sections or client white papers
