Electrical Engineer (Ship Steering Systems)

Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings.  Noblis MSD is seeking a Electrical Engineer to support U.S. Navy Ship Steering Control Systems.  You will provide engineering and technical assistance support in the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

 

 

The Electrical Engineer is a full time position, and will consist of a combination of remote work, and onsite work at a government facility in Philadelphia.  The position will facilitate development of next generation steering systems for surface ship combatants with NAVSEA Philadelphia.  The position will also work within the development of new software/hardware based control systems for surface ship steering control systems.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Participate in the full software and system development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of software engineers, test engineers, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, production personnel, and project managers
• Develop technical requirements for ship configuration and Build out of Materials
• Assist in technical manual development
• Assist in fleet implementation and fielding plans
• Develop and execute test plans

 

Required Experience:

• Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical filed and three (3) years minimum technical experience in architecting and designing electrical to mechanical systems. A minimum of nine (9) additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. 

 

Desired skills and knowledge:

• Experience with control systems integration and development utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures associated with electrical or computer engineering in relation to control systems
• Proficiency in reading and developing engineering diagrams and CAD Software
• Experience troubleshooting faults/failures using common electrical and computer system diagnostic tools. 
• Familiarity with network protocols and concepts to include ethernet networks
• Knowledge of non-Ethernet communication protocols helpful but not required
• Configuration Management concepts and lockdowns
• Knowledge of C++ is a preferred skill. 
• Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar degree, is desired from an accredited university, or equivalent experience as a US Navy tech
• DOD Secret clearance prefered or the ability to obtain a clearance
