In response, DHS S&T was established by Congress to provide innovative scientific and technical solutions to the nation's homeland security challenges. Within S&T, MCS executes Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) to transition solution approaches, technologies, and knowledge products in support of DHS Component customers including U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Federal, State, Local Tribal and Territorial (FSLTT) first responders, and the larger Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE). MCS covers all DHS mission areas and serves 13 discrete customer portfolios.


As a member of the MCS Front Office, this position works with the team to provide business, strategic, and administrative to Executives and the team.  This entails support to enable MCS oversight of its Research and Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) portfolio and facilitate its efforts to analyze, introduce, and enhance technological products, services, systems, and capabilities to S&T’s customers. This position offers opportunities to manage internal S&T efforts and projects, provide timely responses to congressional and DHS-level direction, and advance senior leadership initiatives. 


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Organizing, compiling, and preparing information for reporting to senior executive leadership.
  • Reviewing deliverables to ensure technical, programmatic, and financial goals and objectives are met.
  • Organizing and participating in all activities associated with assigned Task Order projects. 
  • Developing, documenting, and training others on improved processes to enable MCS’ communication.
  • Representing Front Office interests in DHS cross-functional collaborations.
  • Providing strategic guidance and actions to advance senior leadership initiatives.
  • Coordinating, organizing, and scheduling MCS leadership’s Executive meetings, calendar, travel, and engagements with stakeholders and personnel internal and external to DHS.
  • Performing routine tasks including, but not limited to, writing internal memos; capturing meeting notes; reviewing and revising deliverables for quality assurance; maintaining and updating Program Management records; intranet website maintenance; and preparing, reviewing, and presenting presentations. 


Required Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma and 6 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree.  
  • Applicants selected must be eligible to receive DHS Suitability.

Desired Qualifications

  • DHS Suitability. 
  • SECRET Clearance.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency providing administrative and analytical support to programs and projects serving DHS Mission Areas. 
  • Expert attention to detail in written and verbal communication, to include grammar, formatting, and copy editing.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks which includes prioritizing, tracking, follow-up, and follow-through to task completion.
  • Excellent collaboration and presentation skills; proven results-oriented, problem-solving abilities; and experience with presentation graphics, spreadsheets, and reports.
  • Experience providing guidance, feedback, and consulting services to senior-level leadership.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and team-oriented environment, demonstrate initiative, and function productively in the face of new assignments and the re-prioritization of existing assignments.  
  • Experience in SharePoint administration, Microsoft Teams, Tableau, ServiceNow, and Smartsheets.
  • Flexibility/adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment as well as creativity to propose upgrades and new ideas to enhance processes and tools.
  • Experience supporting the development of organizational charts, operation plans, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience supporting DHS components and agencies operationally and/or through project management.
