Responsibilities

Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelpha (NSWCPD) in their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle sustainment.  Noblis MSD is seeking a Systems Engineer to support U.S. Navy Surface Ships; Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) programs.  You will provide engineering and technical assistance support in the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

 

This position is for a full time Systems Engineer supporting a combination of remote work, and onsite work at a government facility in Philadelphia.  The position will focus on lifecycle support/management of existing surface ship steering control systems and systems development of new software/hardware based control systems for surface ship steering control systems.

 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support existing fielded systems to minimize downtime and provide remote/on-site technical support. 
  • Troubleshoot complex problems on fielded systems (microprocessor based control systems) shipboard and in the lab test facility.
  • Participate in the full software and system development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of software engineers, test engineers, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, production personnel, and project managers.
  • Analyze and report on acquired system data.
  • Author and contribute to technical project documentation.
  • Travel to fleet concentration areas to facilitate technical installations, training, or repairs.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required.
  • Minimum four(4) years experience in System Engineering with focus on electrical and/or computer based systems.
  • Prior professional experience in electrical or computer engineering as it pertains to control systems preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance upon position acceptance.
  • Ability to travel internationally. Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
  • Comfortable with working in an industrial environment, including providing on-site shipboard support.

 

 

Essential Skills:

  • Hardware/software integration and development experience.
  • Understanding of electrical components, circuit debugging, and ability to read schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting faults/failures in complex microprocessor based systems.   
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power meters, etc.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and concepts.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.

Additional preferred skills (helpful but not required):

  • Knowedge of C/C++ based programming languages
  • Knowledge of non-Ethernet communication protocols
  • Experience with Computer-aided Design (CAD) Software
  • General Windows OS or Linux OS experience (Install/Configure/Troubleshoot).
  • Prior experience with shipboard electronics systems (e.g. NAVY Electronics Technician, ET).

Additional Information:

This position requires the candidate to travel up to 25% of the time.
