Provides expert level technical and strategic engineering/consultant services to multiple SWIM engineering projects and major investment activities. Serve as a primary technical POC/engineer assigned to FAA programs.
Serves as project leader and systems engineer for multiple SWIM projects. Provides solutioning, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems, system evaluation, system analysis, architecture, and infrastructure assessments. Provides technical and strategic advice for multiple SWIM projects to ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Support the FAA Common Support Services Flight Data (CSS-FD) program by coordinating among organizations and team functional areas to ensure program success. Support the FAA CSS-FD Risk Reduction Activity (RRA) and work towards the Phase 1 Final Investment Decision (FID). Provide RRA planning, management of the developer deliverables, briefing development, interaction with industry participants and apply lessons learned from the RRA to the CSS-FD FID investment. This role will also be key in the successful CSS-FD Ph1 FID and Acquisition, as the lead engineer this position will coordinate tasking, track deliverable progress, develop/edit JRC artifacts, and work closely with IP&A and the FAA ANG CSS-FD team as needed. Work will be required on the SIR, any potential industry days, and outreach to potential vendors.
Provide support to the SWIFT Portal project lead in all aspects of the program, including but not limited to tracking action items, driving technical resolution of issues arising from scope, requirements, or proposed design changes. Effectively communicate with the project team and vendor to manage the product development and meet program milestones. This position also includes work supporting on-going portal operations by developing/improving upon current processes and procedures, monitoring and managing the Portal help-desk, approving user subscriptions and other administrator functions.
Coordinate engineering efforts for FAA programs including the planning, tracking and completion of engineering activities to implement enterprise data sharing services.
Required minimum skills and knowledge:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field and 6 years of related work experience with sustained excellent performance.
Strong communication capabilities, both verbal and written, for communication with clients, user communities, other organizations
Strong analytical skills
Desired skills and knowledge:
Technical background working either as a systems engineer or a software developer/engineer Experience working with APIs
Knowledge of information exchange standards in the aviation domain such as AIXM, FIXM, WXXM, MMIXM
Knowledge of the FAA JRC process
Experience deploying in a cloud environment such as AWS
Experience and strong understanding of the FAA SWIM system and related systems
Experience providing engineering support to FAA Mission Support and or NAS programs
Experience with requirements definition
Demonstrated cross-functional team collaboration and program management skills
Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills
Knowledge and experience with system-to-system messaging protocols such as HTTP, Java Messaging Service (JMS), Solace, or AMQP
