Responsibilities

The Space Weather Follow On - Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1) Program is a joint NOAA/NASA mission to develop, launch, sustain, and maintain a new NOAA space weather monitoring satellite and the supporting ground system. The satellite, which will be launched ~2025, will take measurements from Lagrange point 1.

 

This position will support the Space Weather Follow On, Ground Segment (SGSP) Integration and Test (I&T) team as it oversees the vendor requirement verification and government validation activities. The candidate will participate in multiple I&T activities including, but not limited to:

  1. Review of vendor test procedures
  2. Oversee vendor testing and review of final vendor test reports
  3. Create government validation procedures
  4. Perform government validation testing

The primary work locations will be the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland and the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, Maryland. This position may require occasional travel within the continental United States to witness vendor testing.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years' experience writing and reviewing test cases and procedures at a level of detail that supports testers who have little knowledge of the target system.
  • Experience validating test case and procedure alignment to requirements.
  • A minimum of five years' experience performing test procedures and documenting test results.
  • Familiarity with satellite ground systems (antennas, command and control, and product generation and distribution).
  • Experience with configuration management processes and procedures.
  • Bachelor degree in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.

Desired skills and knowledge:

  • Familiarity with end-to-end testing and flight-ground mission rehearsals.

This position interfaces with myriad stakeholders to the SWFO Ground Segment, including government personnel and many other federal contractors. The role therefore requires sensitivity and clarity to ensure the government's goals are accomplished efficiently and effectively, with the least possible risk or delay.
