Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Noblis MSD is seeking to hire a Senior Certified Boiler Inspector to support U.S. Navy afloat and ashore programs. You will provide system engineering and technical assistance support NAVSEA.
The Senior Certified Boiler Inspector will provide inspection support services to Navy, Marine, Army, USCG, MARAD, and MSC boilers and unfired pressure vessels (UPVs). This positon can be 100% remote.
Roles and responsibilities include:
1. Inspection, testing and troubleshooting of steam propulsion plants, auxiliary plants, steam catapults and/or reboiler systems
2. Develop, revise and review Navy standard drawings, NAVSEA drawings and Technical Manuals
3. Participate in shipboard technical evaluation of steam systems including boilers, auxiliaries, catapults and reboilers
4. Evaluate technical information received from the Fleet (Fleet messages, advisories, etc.).
5. Provide engineering design, repair, installation, modification, maintenance, and operation of systems.
6. Support Technical Manual Deficiency Evaluation Reports (TMDERs) adjudication of Steam Systems TMs to include Repair & Overhaul (R&O) Manual, SGPI Manual, LHD 1 Class Boiler Manual, LHD 1 Class EABC and Auxiliaries Manuals, CVN Catapult Systems Manual & Reboiler Manuals.
Required minimum skills and knowledge:
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field and 5 years relevant experience. Some combination of a High School Diploma/Associates degree, related military experience, trade/industrial school diploma and/or GED plus at least 11-15 years of relevant work experience may be considered.
Minimum Experience: Former Navy Steam Generating Plant Inspector (SGPI) and/or Naval
Shipyard Shop 41 (Boilers) Foreman.
Inspector must be physically capable of entering confined areas such as boiler steam and water drums, inner casings, uptakes, stacks, catapult steam accumulators, reboilers.
Travel up to 30% of the time
Candidate must have a US Government Secret Clearance or higher.
